Volunteers wanted for Therapeutic Riding Center

MILFORD - GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center in Milford is seeking compassionate and energetic volunteers.

Volunteering at GAIT offers volunteers a great opportunity exercise, and enjoy the outdoors while giving back to the community. No horse experience is necessary since GAIT will train the volunteers.

GAIT is a non-profit organization who serves children and adults with special needs. GAIT’s mission is to improve the quality of life of children and adults with special needs through equine activities and therapies, resulting in a more independent life in society.

Volunteers should be at least 12-years-old and able to pass a background check. GAIT’s volunteers perform tasks such as side walking, cleaning barn and pastures, gardening, grooming horses, fundraising and more. All volunteers receive training at GAIT TRC and can be trained as groomers and horse leaders if desired.

The opportunity is considered a great chance for people interested in pursuing a career with animals or with people with special needs.

GAIT’s services include: therapeutic riding, vocational training, Horses for Heroes and Let Equines Empower People. GAIT is a PATH accredited facility with certified therapeutic riding instructors and mental health professionals.
