SHINE After-School Program Summer Camp

WAYNE & PIKE COUNTIES - The WP Workforce Alliance SHINE After School Program is offering its first ever 6-week long virtual Summer Camp.

Starting on July 6, SHINE students and their families will be invited to participate in STEAM learning, by exploring oceanography, climate change and weather, space week, Earth day, Hawaii week and nutrition.

There will be lessons about healthy living through fun physical activities and proper nutrition by cooking fun and healthy recipes each week. Students will be provided materials to engage in weekly experiments that follow the engineering and design process. Central to all instruction will be a focus on each individual student’s area of need in math and reading. Local farms will provide students with fresh ingredients for their weekly cooking adventures that includes everything from sushi to solar s’mores.

The camp will take place Monday – Thursday between 10:00 - 12:00. All materials will be provided while following the health guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The summer program will be fully virtual and devices will be provided for any student and family upon request. S.H.I.N.E. families must RSVP to Pantea Shademani, director of SHINE after-school program at pshademani@wpworkforce.org and call or text to 570-229-5763.
