Holiday Toy Drive for Wayne & Pike counties is underway

PIKE & WAYNE - The Holiday Toy Drive by The Zipper Junction ProjectTM is once again in partnership with “The Wayne County Ford & Bold Gold Media Holiday Toy Drive Challenge.” The Holiday Toy Drive has the support of Wayne County and Pike County officials, businesses, school districts, other toy drives and the community.

Together, they will strive to ensure that children in need, residing in Wayne and Pike counties, are served by this local community effort.

“We’re excited for our third year of bringing joy to kids in Pike and Wayne counties. In addition to all the toys and gifts we hope to receive, please strongly consider making a monetary donation to make sure that all ages we serve have appropriate gifts this holiday season,” said Jim Zumpone, chief visionary and founder of The Zipper Junction ProjectTM.

The Wayne County Ford & Bold Gold Media Holiday Toy Drive Challenge will additionally partner with individuals and businesses who will host their own events that will help generate toy and monetary donations. Past partnerships include: Bring a toy: for free entry to an event; birthday parties, staff parties or family events; Stuff a Truck, Tractor, Jeep or Train; Pictures with Santa; or a single or multi business toy collection event.

Some partners use a toy and gift collection box onsite at their events with all proceeds, both monetary and in the box, donated to The Holiday Toy Drive by The Zipper Junction ProjectTM has also partnered with a young girl who independently raised over $1,000 so she could purchase age appropriate gifts for children in need. Again, this year, toys, gifts, and donations will be accepted at the train stations during The Stourbridge Line Santa Express excursions! The Zipper Junction ProjectTM is looking for new ideas for partner events that will fill Toy Collection Boxes or provide funds for toys.

Everyone is encouraged to visit www.ZipperJunction.org and click on the official logo of the Truck carrying the Big Bag of Toys. Toy request applications can be submitted there between October 1 and November 15. Anyone interested in making a monetary donation, volunteering, becoming a sponsor of The Holiday Toy Drive, or to be a toy drop-off site or event partner can also do that on the same website. Toy and gift donations can be made at the many toy drop-off sites hosting collection boxes from November 1 through December 2; all locations will be listed on the website.

Additionally, toy and gift donations can be made at Wayne County Ford in Honesdale during “The Wayne County Ford & Bold Gold Media Holiday Toy Drive Challenge” which runs from October 28 through December 11. When donating a gift, be sure to look for the official logo.
