GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center Receives $2,000 from Greater Pike COVID Relief Fund

MILFORD - GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center, a nonprofit organization proving equine-assisted activities and therapies to children and adults with physical, emotional and cognitive challenges, accepted a $2,000 grant from the Greater Pike COVID Relief Fund at Greater Pike Community Foundation.
The grant will help GAIT cover the costs associated with insuring and caring for its herd of ten specially trained therapy horses at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has limited its ability to raise revenue.
Earlier this year, Greater Pike Community Foundation, which enables generous individuals, families, and local businesses to maximize their charitable support through organized, targeted, long-term community philanthropy, awarded GAIT $3,000 from the Richard L. Snyder Fund and $1,500 from the Petersheim Fund, for a total of $6,500 in 2020. The Foundation’s support during this critical period has been vitally important.
According to Martha Dubensky, GAIT’s executive director, “GAIT’s horses are the most valuable assets of all the programs and opportunities offered at this center. Children and adults
with special needs are the heart of our programs; people in the community are the crux of the opportunities for volunteering, job shadowing, community service, and equine educational
programs. The Greater Pike grants show trust in our mission of providing horse-based activities and therapies and allow us to continue our work for this community.”
