Cuba From the Inside Out with Joe DiMaggio and JoAnne Kalish
Updated: Jul 20, 2019
When you go on the Internet, you’ll find many photographic trips to the Island of Cuba. If you’re interested in shutter speeds, aperture, depth-of-field and 1950 automobiles, there are many excursions that will fit that criteria. Ours is more than this.
Both JoAnne Kalish and her husband Joe DiMaggio have been going to Cuba for two decades. The couple are licensed through the Treasury Department to do People to People excursions and they take the license seriously. Now, they would like everyone who travels with them, to experience Cuba in a way they will remember forever.
Cubans, according to Kalish are beautiful, hard-working people. They are the most educated, Spanish speaking people on the planet who love to engage in, in-depth conversations with Americans.
That’s the good news… Because of their socialist system, each member of their society makes roughly $28 a month whether they are bakers, doctors or lawyers. They always seem to find ingenious ways to supplement this income. Their children are similar to American children and the boys certainly love baseball. Americans though, tend to take baseball, cooking spices, over the counter medications, and simple items toothpaste for granted, although they are a luxury to the majority of Cuban people.
This trip will mainly be about seeing the Cuban people from the inside out, and, of course, the many photographic opportunities available when there. You will have an opportunity to learn photo tips from two internationally known photographers on the trip and improve your photographic skills greatly.
Cuba is about a lot more than old refurbished cars, and casinos. Arts and culture flourish in Cuba, because art is taken very seriously and is something to be proud of. There is excellent music, dancing and art wherever you go. Kalish and DiMaggio feels as though their program will help you understand how lucky Americans are, to live in the greatest Country in the world, the United States of America. When you return back to the states you will have a greater understanding of what Americans truly have and hopefully you will pass along the generosity of spirit and what you learned about the Cuban people. If you’re looking for a unique travel and humanitarian experience, Kalish and DiMaggio would like you to consider joining them.
