Community Tapestry Project on Display this Summer
HAWLEY - The Community Tapestry Project will be on display throughout the summer in four communities, three counties and two states this summer.
Bingham Park in Hawley July 1-8 | Lackawaxen Village Park July 15 – 22 | The Cooperage in Honesdale July 29 -Aug 5 | DVAA in Narrowsburg Aug 12-19
The project began in the fall as a collaboration with community and Wallenpaupack High School. Once the pandemic affected school closure and the Stay-at-Home order, the project stalled. Pocono Secrets stepped in as the sponsor for the event. Through social media, fifty panels were distributed.
“People began reaching out from our area as well as Florida, California and North Carolina. People who grew up here or spent time as a child or recently visited, expressed an interest in participating. We have people who have never shared their art. We have families who created panels together. It’s been a community within a community project.” said Laurie Guzda, creator of Pocono Secrets.
