Clean Energy Co-op Finalizes Solar Agreement with Wayne County‘s Stourbridge Project; Annual Meeting
HONESDALE - After more than a year in the planning stages, solar energy production is coming to the local economic incubator and co-working space, known as the Stourbridge Project, with installation of solar panels beginning in early October.
The Clean Energy Co-op Inc. has formalized a purchase agreement contract with the Wayne County Commissioners to deliver electric power from solar panels atop the building for 25 years. Honesdale Borough has issued the building permit, and the panels and other equipment are on order. Installation will be done by the family-owned solar firm, Buselli Solutions, based in Beach Lake.
Jack Barnett, President of the Clean Energy Co-op, says “This is the ultimate win-win for Wayne County; not only will the Stourbridge Project be powered by reliable, sustainable solar energy, but Wayne County, owner of the building, locks in a pre-set price for its electricity through the year 2045.”
The array of 83 extra-large solar panels totaling a capacity of 33.2 kilowatts will be installed in the coming weeks and the plan is for the system to be fully operational by the end of October, weather permitting.
This project will be a major feature of the Clean Energy Co-op Annual Meeting, this year being held via Zoom at 6 pm on October 20th. In addition to the nearly 100 Co-op members, the meeting is open to the general public. To register for the Zoom meeting, go to www.cleanenergy.coop to receive Zoom registration information.
The Co-op Annual Meeting will feature updates on the three earlier Co-op solar projects: The Cooperage Project, Anthill Farm Agroforestry and Willow Wisp Organic Farm. Wayne County Commissioner Jocelyn Cramer will also address the Annual Meeting.
