GAIT's Annual Car Wash benefits the Jean Work Scholarship Fund
MILFORD - GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center held its annual car wash fundraiser that benefits the Jean Work Scholarship Fund Sept. 7.
The car wash was held in conjunction with Day of Caring and sponsored by Gordon’s Elite Detailing. Day of Caring Volunteers from Delaware Valley High School, along with Penn State Cooperative Extension 4-H Club and GAIT TRC volunteers, diligently washed cars, trucks and SUVs to help raise funds for the scholarship.
All proceeds benefit the Jean Work Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for participants with special needs to engage in equine activities and therapies at GAIT Therapeutic Riding Center in Milford.
Thanks to these volunteers, over $1,000 was raised for the fund. “This will enable several families to receive equine services,” said Dan Gordon, a GAIT board member and longtime volunteer.
The Day of Caring Volunteers from DVHS included: Ethan Allo, Nick Moglia, Syndey Cadogan, Stephen Demmo, Christian Stashuk, Matthew Cortez, Jada Gonzalez, Lauren Weinrich, Bri Silva, Ian Murch, Lucia Vitanza, Kathryn Smith, Danielle Stoll, Olivia Gandolfo, Brianna Chammorro, Bella Fasulo, Adian Fean, Emma Darazsdi, AJ Cadogan, Hailey Alexandre, Jenna Senior, Brooke Beheran, Annabell Potenza and John Zirprli. Several school administrators and teachers also pitched in.
“We couldn’t have raised this amount of money without the dedication of all the volunteers,” said Martha Dubensky, Executive Director and Founder of GAIT TRC, “we are very grateful.”
GAIT TRC is a non-profit organization that provides equine activities and therapies to children and adults with physical, emotional and cognitive challenges in order to increase their independence and quality of life. The Jean Work scholarship fund helps ensure that riders with special needs receive the services necessary regardless of financial status. GAIT could not do this without the generous support of their donors and volunteers.
Jean Work was a former riding instructor and board member for GAIT. Wendy and Alan Kaplan of Milford and NYC created a scholarship in her memory to enable riders to be able to enjoy the benefits of therapeutic riding.
